Biography
Dean Taylor has been playing guitar and active in bands since sixteen, having formed his first band during the end of his school years playing shows with Treacle Sleep. This starting line-up was heavily influenced by the likes of Terrorvision, The Wildhearts and The Almighty.
Dean's musical career started to take off with Gloucestershire based rock band Murdoc. Initially playing guitar and later taking the role of lead vocalist after other singers hadn't worked out. With Dean at the front the band went on to tour the country playing various sell out shows including London, playing alongside some brilliant acts such as Void (now Scarlet Rebels and Anti-Product). The band went on to win Best Unsigned Band with Kerrang Radio and had the distinct pleasure of shooting a music video with Suicide Girls. Travelling around in a knackered transit sprayed up to look like the A-Team van, this is where Dean really cut his gigging teeth.
He next took to the stage in 2013 with 3-piece Nukchorris. Signed to Raven Black Music, the band had a punkier simple sound with raw energy. Gigging heavily across the country including the infamous Ruskin Arms (home of Maiden) in London, and a highlight being the main support for Goldsboro on their UK tour fresh off the back of Sons of Anarchy fame. The band's debut release 'Killing Me' had Earache Records, who tweeted about the band's release, sitting up and taking notice. Other accolades included winning Best Live Act at the Exposure Music Awards. 2017 saw the band re-brand as You're Still Dead, who opened playing alongside The Soap Girls to reveal the new look before dropping the video and single for Zombie Drive-by. The band captured airplay internationally reaching as far afield as Australia before finally calling it a day in January 2020.
During the time gigging with You're Still Dead, Dean also dabbled with a blues side project 'Ten Gallon Drought'. The band mixed acoustic guitar with harmonica and harmony vocals, playing a handful of local shows before he left the band to focus on his other projects.
2020 saw the formation of Nophobia. Debut single 'Desensitise' picked up rave reviews, being used as the official theme song for EVM Wrestling and being named Track of the Month by Banks Radio Australia. The band have gigged on and off since then, going through a few line-up changes bringing us to 2026 with the addition of Rob and Jake where everything now seems complete. Whether on stage or in the studio the energy and excitement levels never slack off. Blending thunderous riffs with old school clean sing-along vocals, the next chapter is going to be a fun one \m/.
